Hazelnut Hill: a farmer-owned and operated hazelnut treat company
Hazelnut Hill was started in 1987 by Rob and Sally Hilles, longtime hazelnut farmers in the Willamette Valley. When they decided to retire in 2016, Rachel and Ryan Henderson bought the company; it was a natural transition for the couple, as Ryan is a fourth-generation farmer with a background in hazelnuts; Rachel brought the expertise in cooking, baking and a love of quality chocolates to the table.
The Hendersons shared a passion for farm-to-table produce, especially hazelnuts. That inspired them to fully commit to Hazelnut Hill, and their passions for hazelnuts, locally sourced food and working with the land spurred on their growth. Since 2016, they’ve been cooking, roasting and trying to make Oregon Hazelnuts accessible to all.
At the top of the Hazelnut Hill signature list is toffee, a popular favorite for years. The always-exceptional combination of chocolate and hazelnuts has also been big for Hazelnut Hill, and they’ve had a blast experimenting, creating and developing new hazelnut treats. Their product line now features a hazelnut pancake and waffle mix, hazelnut brittle, hot and spicy hazelnuts and gift boxes that combine all their treats!
The Hendersons get the unique joy of seeing the entire hazelnut process, from planting, pruning, watering and harvesting, all the way up to creating delectable homemade treats. Hazelnut Hill treats can be found at local farm stands in the summer and on their website.
