Giving thanks for a record year

We have so much to be thankful for as the 2020 hazelnut harvest comes to a close. 2020 has been a roller coaster ride. In September, the Oregon wildfires proved one last hurdle for hazelnut growers to overcome; fortunately, hazelnut orchards were largely untouched and damage was minimal.

Growers were confident 2020 would be a different harvest. Mid-summer reports were showing record yields, ranging from conservative estimates of 62,000 tons all the way up to 72,000 tons. Either number would blow by the old record of approximately 51,000 tons. Farmers are now finishing their harvest tasks, and the nuts are moving up to receiving stations and processors. At these facilities the nuts are cleaned and prepped for consumption. The individuals in charge of these facilities are also reporting exceptionally high volumes of hazelnuts. All signs are pointing up for the 2020 harvest!

We are thankful for all of the people who have made this new era possible.
